Recent Round-Table With Geriatric Care Workers on Elder Law Topics

Tuesday night Elder Law Attorneys James Shields and Tom Boris were guest speakers at a Geriatric Care Managers workshop held at Sunrised Assisted Living in McClandess.  It was a wonderful, informal gathering of workers in the Geriatric Care industry, on topics of Elder Law that are most pertinent to today's real-world caretakers.  From discussing issues in the difference between medical and legal determination of competence, to recent law changes regarding the Medicaid look back period, to mutual frustrations with the general state of care for our elderly citizens, it was an engaging and enlightening back and forth discussion.  By the end, we had gone way past our scheduled time, and it occured to us that next time it might be beneficial to bring a recording device and put our discussion on our web site.  We hope to provide even more expert tips and insight from our experienced Elder Law and Estate Planning Attorneys on what you, the average caretaker should be aware of when it comes to planning for long term care.
