Q: Why haven’t I heard about this planning before?

A: First of all you have not heard about this planning because the law is new.  The law just changed on February 8, 2006 as implemented in Pennsylvania by regulation March of 2007.  Therefore, most of this planning is new and now more sophisticated under the new law.  It is our experience that even most lawyers do not understand Medicaid law (Called Medical Assistance in Pennsylvania). It is not surprising that the public and even well intentioned and well educated individuals within the senior services network are unfamiliar with the planning strategies that are available.
